White Pass, WA. - White Pass Ski Area shareholders overwhelmingly approved the sale of the ski area at a meeting held Tuesday, December 21st. Yakima-based businessmen Andrew Sundquist, David Severn, Dan Plath, Adam Dolsen and Patrick Smith, formed a partnership which has acquired 100% of White Pass Co. Inc.'s stock. The ownership group will retain General Manager, Rikki Cooper and the entire staff including former White Pass General Manager Kevin McCarthy.
“We started our succession planning process several years ago and have taken a slow, methodical approach to find the right opportunity,” said Kevin McCarthy. “The transition began this summer with Rikki Cooper taking the reins as GM and is now complete with the sale of the ski area to these young, active members of our White Pass community. I believe the true winners are the skiers and riders who love recreating at White Pass because the new ownership group is literally woven into the fabric of the White Pass Family."
General Manager, Rikki Cooper noted, "Moving forward, White Pass Company, Inc. will continue to provide family-friendly recreation for winter sports enthusiasts from across the Pacific Northwest. The longtime leadership at White Pass has set us on a successful pathway and we are looking forward to continuing that growth into the future."
White Pass is located at the summit of US Highway 12 in Washington State between Naches and Packwood. It was originally founded in 1955 by a group of Yakima citizens who had a passion for the outdoors and the relatively new sport of skiing. Since its founding, the ski area has grown significantly and currently comprises 1,402 acres, 8 lifts, over 2,000 feet of vertical, with two on-mountain lodges, a 21K Nordic Center and a Tubing Center.
