Snowboarding was first allowed on White Pass lifts in 1985. Forty years later and it's still a prominent fixture on the slopes! We are excited to celebrate the sport that came to White Pass Ski Area shortly after the Mahre Brothers put American Ski Racing on the global map. In a time where skiing was the dominant recreational activity, snowboarding came into play with a whole new style and outlook onto mountain riding. This event is to celebrate the early days of snowboarding at White Pass, the original riders that adopted the sideways stance, and the tens of thousands of snowboarders who have "surfed" their way down our snow covered slopes ever since!
