Get ready to take your Nordic (Cross-Country) skiing to the next level with the White Pass Nordic Team! This exciting program is designed for young skiers eager to improve their skills through directed free skiing, training, and Washington Nordic Cup competition in both the Classic and Skate techniques. Whether you're passionate about racing or simply want to sharpen your skiing abilities in a dynamic and supportive environment, the Nordic Team offers a perfect blend of training, fun, and challenge.
What to Expect:
Focused Skill Development: TWe alternate Classic and Skate technique every Saturday, you'll develop better technique and balance on a variety of Nordic Center trails and conditions. Our expert coaches will work with you to refine your technique, enhance balance, and help you master our groomed Nordic trails.
Weekend Training Sessions: Starting on December 19th, we hit the trail every Saturday morning. The Nordic Team meets at 8:45am at the Nordic tent just beyond the Nordic Center Rental Yurt and we ski until 11:30am, with a cocoa break for the younger skiers. Each session is carefully structured to maximize skill development, alternating between directed free skiing with a coach, focused drills and games.
Race Experience: You’ll get the chance to compete in six Washington Nordic Cup races. One of these WNC races is at White Pass and we also hold our Dick Kendall Memorial fund raiser race at White Pass. These races provide valuable experience, allowing you to put your skills to the test in a friendly, competitive environment while building confidence and camaraderie with your teammates.
Key Components:
Directed Free Skiing: Explore varied terrain and improve your overall skiing technique under the watchful eye of our skilled coaches. Free skiing helps you develop versatility and confidence all over the Nordic Center.
Gate Training: Hone your skills in Classic and Skate technique. We'll focus on endurance, efficiency, improving your timing, and gaining glide, so you can race with stamina and speed. We will cover all aspects of the sport, from skiing and racing techniques to ski waxing and equipment selection and preparation.
Competition: Racing isn’t just about winning—it’s about personal improvement, teamwork, and having fun! Our races in the Washington Nordic Cup give you the opportunity to showcase your progress, learn from the experience, and bond with your teammates.
Program Details:
Start Date: December 19th - Season schedule coming soon! Team members will also have a few Dry Land Practice sessions and Roller Ski Practice sessions starting with the TWP fun run on September 20th.
Schedule: Saturday training from 8:45 am to 11:30 am and Christmas Camp on Dec. 29th & 30th

Program Tuition: $419*
*Tuition includes a Nordic Trail season pass valued at $. All the kids race without entry fees in the Washington Nordic Cup races. Parents are responsible for travel and overnight accommodations if desired at the distant races like at Winthrop.
Travel Fee Notice:
For all off-site races and events, a Travel Fee will be applied. This fee helps cover coaches’ accommodations and travel expenses, ensuring that your athletes receive the best support while competing away from home. The total cost will be divided equally among all participating athletes.
Spaces are limited, please register now. Monthly payment plans are available. Athletes must be competent on all intermediate terrain.
